Berat

Berat is a UNESCO-listed Ottoman town on the Osum River in central Albania, often called the town of a thousand windows, and these are our guides to it. Its white houses climb the hillside below an inhabited castle, and it makes a good base for the countryside around Mount Tomorr. The articles compare Berat with Gjirokastër, Albania's other UNESCO town, and cover Mount Tomorr, the holy mountain above the town, and Bogova Waterfall with its cold pool. Others help with planning: where to stay in Albania, how many days a trip needs, and the best day trips from Tirana, where Berat is one of the options.
