Ionian Sea

The Ionian Sea washes the southern coast of Albania, and these articles are guides to the beaches, bays and seasons of that shoreline. South of the Llogara Pass, the coast drops steeply to clear water, and the beaches are mostly white pebble below mountains and olive groves. Our guides describe Gjipe Beach in its canyon, the long beach at Borsh and the bay at Dhermi. Two seasonal pieces look at the coast in autumn, when the water is still warm, and in spring, when the countryside is in flower and the beaches are quiet.
