Shengjergj Waterfall

The Shëngjergj Waterfall is a hidden natural gem in the mountains east of Tirana, near the village of Shëngjin in the Shëngjergj area. Fed by water from Mali me Gropa that eventually reaches the Erzen River, it tumbles about 30 metres in a series of spiralling funnels, much of them hidden inside the rock.

About Shengjergj Waterfall

Part of the fall’s charm is its setting: the cliffs around it are banded with colourful rock layers, with red tones dominating. Long known mainly to local villagers, it became popular after photographs of it were widely shared in recent years.

The access road is in good condition and signposted, and from the end of the road a walk of roughly 15–30 minutes leads to the waterfall. Spring, when snowmelt swells the flow, and autumn are the best times to visit, while in summer some visitors swim in the pool below.
