Itinerary & Details
Start of the day
- Pick-ups are arranged anytime from 09:00 to 10:00 at or very close to your hotel. The tour guide will greet you and you will be welcomed by a comfortable transportation vehicle.
Bovilla Canyon
- As you journey thought the countryside of Albania, you will reach the Bovilla Canyons. Enjoy the beautiful nature views of the canyon. Take a short break for some pictures and a bit of strech.
Bovilla Dam
- Drive up Bovilla Dam, an impressive structure towering at a height of 91 meters. This dam serves as the primary source for Tirana’s electricity and water supply, drawing from the surrounding lake.
Gamti Mountain
- Embark on the hiking trail towards Gamti Mountain, where every turn reveals stunning views of the lake and the surrounding countryside. The hike includes intermittent breaks to rest and absorb the scenery. After approximately 25 minutes at an elevation of 850 meters the road ends and you will reach the only cafe in Gamti mountain. After this there is an additional 10-minute hike up the rocky slopes to reach the summit. Upon reaching the summit, you will encounter one of the most amazing views in Albania. Descend along the same path and, upon reaching the base, visit the river’s shore.
Free Time
- End your day with some free time to enjoy a meal at a nearby restaurant or a snack you’ve brought along. After a day filled with adventure and stunning natural scenery, return to Tirana, where you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation.

Magical!!
Highly recommend visiting this magical spot and enjoying the stunning views. There’s a 30-minute hike to a viewpoint, which I did with my 4.5-year-old son—he loved it and thought it was both beautiful and adventurous. I checked with the homestay and restaurant owner before heading up for advice.
It’s doable with little ones, but careful supervision is a must. We stayed one night at Lake Bovilla, as that was all that was available. If we return, we’d definitely spend three nights to fully enjoy this fantastic place.
Beautiful lake with stunning views
This artificial lake, perched at around 1000 m in the mountains, is definitely worth a visit. You can reach it via a coach track using a 4×4 or SUV. There’s a high-altitude restaurant and bar nearby, and a short walk from there leads to a suspended platform…perfect for capturing stunning photos.
A mountain escape
We spent a beautiful day here. The experience is truly rewarding, but be prepare, it’s physically demanding. You need to be fit and ready, but every step is worth it.
Breathtaking vistas
A lovely lake with stunning views, though the journey isn’t easy—a long stretch of gravel road awaits. The climb to the viewpoint is challenging, especially with young children, but the breathtaking panorama makes every step worth it!
A quick escape from Tirana
One of my favorite spots near Tirana, just 20 km from the capital. The hike isn’t long—even for those who don’t usually hike and the view from the top is absolutely worth it.
Stunning views
A very pretty spot, best visited with a car suited for the terrain. The views are stunning—perfect for photos—and along the way, you might encounter some friendly sheep and goats.
Climb, explore, enjoy
If you’re not afraid of rough roads or uneven paths, the effort is well worth it. After a short hike of a few kilometers, the view is absolutely breathtaking! Don’t hesitate to climb the stairs to the city bridge (just €1 per person). The on-site restaurant is very welcoming and adds to the experience.
Una salita che vale la pena
Il Lago Bovilla è un luogo eccezionale! La strada per raggiungerlo è abbastanza stretta, ripida e un po’ lunga, il che a volte la rende impegnativa, ma lo sforzo viene davvero ricompensato. Una volta parcheggiato, la salita offre viste magnifiche lungo tutto il percorso. L’ingresso costa solo 1 € a persona, un prezzo davvero ragionevole per uno spettacolo naturale simile. Da non perdere per gli amanti dei paesaggi impressionanti!
Worth it
The food was absolutely stunning…cooked to perfection! The atmosphere was super cute, and the waiter, was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He truly made the meal even more special.
Absolutely beautiful
Absolutely beautiful! You can either hike or drive up to the restaurant, which offers stunning views along with fantastic food and service. There’s also a short walk to an additional viewing platform on the mountain. The restaurant, cabins, and viewing platform are modern and tastefully designed. It’s a family-owned venture in partnership with the local village community. The food was excellent—definitely try the mixed starters (we enjoyed them alongside grilled meats). Truly the best meal we’ve had in Albania!
Summer views you can’t miss
Anyone who loves nature will absolutely adore this place, and hiking enthusiasts will enjoy it even more. The best time to experience it is in the summer.
