Himara

Himara is a town on Albania's Ionian coast with an old castle quarter above a modern seafront, and these articles cover the coast and landscapes around it. The surrounding stretch of the Riviera has quiet coves, olive terraces and small hill villages within a short drive. Our guides visit Porto Palermo, the fortress on its own peninsula associated with Ali Pasha, and Gjipe Beach, a canyon beach reached on foot or by boat. A journey along the Ionian coast describes the villages and bays south of the Llogara Pass, and a broader feature looks at Albania's landscapes and culture.
