Inside, the rooms are furnished as they would have been in a wealthy Berat household: carved wooden ceilings, the “mafil” gallery from which women could follow events in the main room, fireplaces, and a ground-floor courtyard with a well.
The collections show everyday life and crafts in the region: traditional costumes, jewellery, weaving looms, copper and wooden household objects, and tools of local trades such as weaving, silver work and wine-making.
The museum helps you read the windows and houses of Berat from the inside, and pairs naturally with a walk through Mangalem and up to the castle.
