A short but steep hike leads up through the hillside, and the final section climbs a metal stairway fixed to the rock face. At the top, a steel viewing platform often called the Balcony of Bovilla juts out over the gorge, at an altitude of roughly 540 metres, with wide views across the lake and surrounding mountains.
The walk is technically simple but physically demanding near the end, so sturdy shoes are recommended. Those uneasy with heights can still enjoy a similar view from the foot of the stairs.
