Fierzë Village & the Valbona River Mouth

Fierzë is the small settlement at the eastern end of the Komani Lake ferry route, in the Tropojë district. Here the boat ride through the gorges ends and the road toward Bajram Curri and the Valbona Valley begins.

About Fierzë Village & the Valbona River Mouth

The village grew up with the construction of the Fierza Hydroelectric Power Station in the 1970s. Its large dam holds back Lake Fierza just upstream, and the rows of apartment blocks above the shore, dating from that era, still give Fierzë its distinctive look.

Right by the village the Valbona River reaches the end of its course of about 50 km from the Valbona Valley and flows into the Drin at Lake Koman. Here the clear water of the mountain river meets the green water of the reservoir, a good spot for a short stop and photos.

Most travellers pass through Fierzë on their way between the ferry and the mountains: minibuses and taxis meet the boats and continue to Bajram Curri and Valbona. The season follows the ferry, from spring to autumn. Combine Fierzë with the boat trip from Koman and a few days in the Valbona Valley.
