Protected as a regional park since 1987, Germia is mostly forest, with oak and beech woodland covering more than three-quarters of its area. Scientists have recorded more than 600 plant species here, including rare orchids, and the woods shelter a wide range of birds, reptiles and mammals.
In summer the main draw is the huge open-air swimming pool, fed by water from local springs, which becomes a popular gathering place for families and young people. Around it you will find meadows for picnics, restaurants, a children’s playground and sports grounds, while forest trails lead deeper into the hills for longer walks and runs, and the park is used for sport and recreation all year round.
Whether you come for a summer swim or a woodland walk, Germia shows Pristina’s greener side.
