Vitosha Boulevard

Vitosha Boulevard is Sofia's main shopping street and its most popular promenade, running from the Church of St Nedelya to the National Palace of Culture. It is named after Vitosha Mountain, which rises at its southern end.

About Vitosha Boulevard

Much of the boulevard is pedestrian, paved and lined with trees, cafés, restaurants and shops, from international brands to Bulgarian designers. On a clear day the mountain fills the view to the south, while the domes of the cathedral and the Largo lie to the north.

The boulevard is busiest in the evening, when locals stroll and the terraces fill up, and it is a good place to try Bulgarian dishes such as shopska salad and banitsa.

Walk the full length, then rest in the park around the National Palace of Culture at its southern end.
