The water is strikingly clear, shading from green to turquoise, and stays cold even in high summer. The sculpted stone basins, sometimes called the stone baths of Ndërlysaj, make a natural spot for a bracing dip on a hot day, while the rocks around them are perfect for a picnic or simply sitting by the river.
Ndërlysaj is also the starting point for the trail to the Blue Eye of Theth, a turquoise spring-fed pool reached by a walk of a little over two kilometres, so the two are easily combined. Many hikers follow the marked path from Theth down the valley, stopping at the Grunas Waterfall on the way, and a few small cafés in Ndërlysaj serve lunch. Bring cash, as cards are rarely accepted.
In spring and after heavy rain the river runs fast and high, so take care near the water and swim only when the current is calm.
