Vlora Lungomare

The Lungomare is the long seafront promenade of Vlorë, stretching for several kilometres along the bay between the port and the Uji i Ftohtë (Cold Water) area. Vlorë holds a special place in Albanian history: it was here, on 28 November 1912, that Albania’s independence was declared, commemorated by the monument on nearby Flag Square.

About Vlora Lungomare

Lined with palm trees and with paths for walkers and cyclists, the promenade runs past beaches, cafés, bars and restaurants. It looks out over the Bay of Vlorë, with Sazan Island at its entrance and the mountains of the Karaburun Peninsula beyond.

The Lungomare is at its liveliest in the evening, when locals come out for the traditional xhiro, the leisurely evening stroll. The promenade has been extended and upgraded in stages in recent years.
