Una National Park

Una National Park protects the upper course of the Una River in north-western Bosnia and Herzegovina, stretching south from near Bihać along the border with Croatia. Established in 2008, it also includes the river’s tributaries, the Unac and the Krka, with their canyons, forests and waterfalls.

About Una National Park

The Una’s clear green water flows over travertine barriers built up from mineral deposits, creating a succession of cascades and rapids. Its banks were once lined with wooden watermills, and the area is rich in history, from the prehistoric Iapydes to the medieval fortress of Ostrovica above Kulen Vakuf and the Serbian Orthodox Rmanj Monastery at Martin Brod.

The star attraction is Štrbački buk, the park’s highest waterfall at 24.5 metres, where the river crashes over travertine steps right on the border with Croatia. Upstream, the Martin Brod waterfalls form another beautiful complex of cascades. The Una is also popular for rafting, kayaking and canoeing with licensed local operators, as well as for fishing, hiking, cycling and camping.

Wild yet accessible, the park is a refreshing escape into an unspoilt river landscape.
