The beach stretches for roughly one and a half kilometres, and its clear water shelves gently, which makes it a comfortable place to swim. The seabed is made up of small pebbles, so water shoes are a good idea. The hill of Himara Castle rises nearby, and from the old town’s walls there is a fine view down towards the bay.
In summer the beach has sunbeds, umbrellas and a string of bars and restaurants, with free stretches where you can simply lay down a towel. Guesthouses and campsites sit among the olive trees behind the shore, making Livadhi a relaxed base for a few days on the Riviera. Mornings are usually the calmest time for swimming and snorkelling along the rocks at either end.
Easy-going and scenic, Livadhi pairs perfectly with an afternoon exploring Himarë’s old town on the hill above.
