It was opened on 13 July 2005, Montenegro's Statehood Day, and connects the city centre with the newer districts on the river's right bank. Its tall white pylon and fan of steel cables are visible from much of the city. The bridge carries pedestrian walkways as well as road traffic, so you can cross it on foot for views up and down the river.
Right next to it is the pedestrian Moscow Bridge, and the riverbanks around both bridges are popular for walks, especially in the evening when the bridge is lit up.
The bridge is a short walk from the city's main squares and from the old Ottoman quarter of Stara Varoš, so it is easy to include on a walking tour of Podgorica.
