Sinan Pasha Mosque

The Sinan Pasha Mosque is the landmark of Prizren in Kosovo, rising above the town’s main street on the banks of the Bistrica River. It was completed in 1615 by Sofi Sinan Pasha, a native of Prizren who had served as an Ottoman governor in Bosnia, and it remains an active mosque.

About Sinan Pasha Mosque

Built in classic Ottoman style, the square stone prayer hall is crowned by a single large lead-covered dome, while its slender minaret, about 43.5 metres tall, dominates the old town’s skyline. Inside, the walls and dome are decorated with 19th-century paintings of floral patterns and Qur’anic verses, and the stone floor and woodwork are original.

Together with the old stone bridge and the fortress above the town, the mosque forms the heart of historic Prizren, and it is a natural stop on any stroll through the centre.
