Life here follows the seasons. Families farm and keep livestock, and many traditional houses now double as guesthouses serving home-cooked food. The village keeps the customs of Kelmend alive, and in August the area hosts Logu i Bjeshkëve, a folk festival of music, dance and traditional costume that draws performers from Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro.
Lëpushë is the starting point for the hike to Maja e Vajushës and for walks to the Qafa e Bordolecit pass and the surrounding pastures. The village lies on the road to Vermosh, Albania's northernmost village, so the two are often visited together.
Lëpushë is reached from Shkodër on the SH20 road via Tamarë, a winding but very scenic mountain drive of a few hours. Guesthouses are open mainly from late spring to autumn: summer is the time for hiking and the festival, while autumn brings warm colours to the beech forests. Winters are long and snowy.
